Former leather tannery C. Breuninger in Schorndorf. Commerce and housing revitalize the industrial site.
A multifunctional planning concept that envisages the construction of commercial and residential units on a 1.3-hectare site convinces the city of Schorndorf. First place for the design in the first investor process.
Project dataA four-story building ensemble with a commercial and health center was planned for the site. The Christian Breuninger leather tannery was formerly located at the site. A few years later, the concept for the site in the southeast of the city of Schorndorf was revised in a new process.
The ensemble impresses with a clear architectural language designed for efficiency. In the arrangement of the individual buildings, attention was paid to carefully composed visual axes. The coordinated structure of the individual buildings creates a high-quality and lively quarter in a city center location. With its hybrid building use, consisting of a mixture of retail space, offices, nursing home and apartments for all generations, future requirements are met. The area is rounded off by open and green spaces that combine with the architecture in a special way.
On the first floor and second floor of the centrally located building complex, the concept envisages around 5,300 square meters of retail space. Designed for office use, parts of the district administration office can be accommodated on the second floor. The third floor is planned for use as a nursing home with around 65 accommodation places.
Residential development is to be built on 1,700 square meters in the noise-protected northern part of the area. While services are planned for the first floor, the concept envisages assisted living on the upper floors. In the northwestern part of the building, loft apartments can be integrated into the existing buildings.
