Residential building K1 in Rechberghausen. Two floors in challenging topography.
Special solutions were required for the new construction of this single-family house. Due to height specifications and a complex building topography, the complete room program was developed on two levels and an individual living landscape was realized.
Project dataThe basement of the new building is dug into the slope. On the lower level there is a large garage with storage room. An airlock provides access to other rooms such as office, guest room and gym, as well as workshop and warehouse. A basement was omitted. The heating system and building services are also located on this level. A staircase connects the upper and lower floors.
Garden living
The L-shaped floor plan allows the wings to be separated, with the hallway providing access to both axes. The part facing the street accommodates the bedrooms as well as bathroom and sanitary areas. The rear axis includes the generously designed living and dining rooms, including the kitchen. This area opens onto the garden.
The hallway opens up visual connections between both axes and into the garden through floor-to-ceiling windows. This simultaneously creates a direct link to the surrounding landscape. A curved roof in the shape of a crescent spans the terrace and other open spaces, providing protection from the sun and the weather.
