Creates club identity and new opportunities: Clubhouse TKSZ Ludwigsburg.
The TKSZ Ludwigsburg, Germany's oldest Turkish sports club, is getting a new clubhouse. A meeting place is being created, a center for the vibrant club life. Two twisted storeys in the club colors will become an identity-forming address and the new home of the sportsmen and women.
Project data
Architectural concept
The design for the new building envisages two simple rectangular structures that are placed on top of each other as lightweight boxes and twisted in relation to each other. The twisting is based on the surrounding sports facilities and the existing pathways. In this way, the building blends in well with its surroundings.
The rotation of the two storeys creates a protective canopy over the entrance on the west side and an attractive roof terrace with a view over the sports field on the south side.
Uses
The uses in the building are divided into utility rooms on the ground floor and recreation rooms and administration on the upper floor: With direct access to the sports field on the south side of the first floor, there are four changing rooms with showers and toilets. The equipment and referee rooms also have a separate entrance at the rear of the building on the north side. The main entrance is accessed under the cantilevered upper floor to the west, next to which there is also a small sales room for catering to visitors.
The upper floor, which welcomes visitors with a spacious foyer, can be accessed via the main entrance. Around two thirds of the floor area is taken up by a flexibly divisible function room with an adjacent kitchen. It opens onto the sports field with a generous glass surface, where there is also a roof terrace from which visitors can enjoy a first-class view of the sports facilities.
Various offices for the association's administration are also located on the upper floor.

Materiality and construction
The materiality is based on an architectural interpretation of the club colors red, white and black: a concrete base forms the first floor, whose visible concrete façade is colored reddish. The upper floor is formed by a timber construction. Here, the façade is designed with dark, vertically arranged wooden slats.
This creates a new home for the TKSZ Ludwigsburg, which incorporates and develops the club's identity. The new opportunities for sport and recreation promote club life and create a sense of community.
