Scherbenmarkt in Donzdorf. Neighborhood design with added value for the urban community.
The city of Donzdorf commissioned the brainstorming for the development of inner-city property areas. Following a feasibility study, plans were to be drawn up for the restructuring and development of a neighborhood.
Project dataThe quarter takes up references to urban axes and lines and thus blends harmoniously into the surrounding buildings. The building ensemble is perceived as a self-contained unit without losing its connection to the outside world. Pathways through the inner courtyard are interesting for passers-by and benefit the first floor uses. Noise protection requirements were integrated into the planning. The result is an urban quarter that offers added value for Donzdorf's urban society.
The first floor of the building complex, which has a total of three to four stories, accommodates areas for business and culture. Exhibition and sales areas, cafés and other public facilities provide a high quality of life. Residential units are planned for the floors above. The space program comprises around 20 apartments, each with large window areas and roof loggias. All units feature spacious, flexible floor plans and balconies. Roof terraces are designed for communal use.
Individual shading options made of wood provide pleasant lighting and sunlight. In the interior and in the facade design, the concept provides for the use of natural materials. A highlight is the green oasis created by a spacious inner courtyard. A greening of the facades surrounding the courtyard in combination with benches and further zoning for stay and relaxation creates a friendly and natural ambience. This creates an open and transparent atmosphere in the core of the neighborhood.
