New Apostolic Church in Uhingen. Solitaire with a required sacral appearance.
For the New Apostolic congregation "Unteres Filstal", the task was to find a solution for a new church building. A suitable concept was to be developed within the framework of a multiple commissioning.
Project dataDue to the exposed location of the site, the design is given a restrained architecture that emphasizes the special significance as a sacred and public building. The compact structure makes optimal use of the building window. The church hall is identified from the outside by a rising monopitch roof, which stands out with its flat roof construction. In extension of the sacristy, various recreation and functional rooms adjoin. This band of rooms is interrupted only by a side entrance.
The building walls are designed in exposed concrete on the outside and plaster on the inside. Ceiling sails allow optimization of the room acoustics. The church hall has a simple, unadorned design. The only accents are skylights above the altar and the church hall. The pews are in wood. The altar area is conceivable in concrete, the floor in asphalt. The entire hall deliberately has no other design elements such as windows to allow the faithful to worship in a concentrated and undisturbed manner.
The criterion for the choice of building technology was the lower frequency of use of the church. Energy baskets and a brine water heat pump are provided for heating and air conditioning. Underfloor heating serves to cool the building in summer and to store heat in winter.
