Civic and club house with fire department in Eltersdorf. Optimal utilization of a plot of land.
Since the existing Egidienhaus in Eltersdorf is to be demolished, a competition was held to find proposed solutions for a new building as a citizens' and club house with a volunteer fire department, including the surrounding open spaces. The site is optimally utilized; the new building experiences multiple coding.
Project dataThe new building of the Bürger- und Vereinshaus on Eltersdorfer Straße takes up the axes and references of the surrounding development. The building is set back somewhat from the street and, together with the forecourt area, forms the assembly and practice area for the fire department. Through the differentiation of the accesses and functions, different qualities of stay are created. The individual identities of the different user groups, which find space under a common roof, are strengthened. A place is created that becomes a living house. In order to do justice to the safety aspects of the fire department and to ensure short emergency routes, the development and the parking spaces with alarm access for the firefighters are located on the northern side of the building. The clubrooms and the youth club are accessed on the south side via a landscaped access path. This ensures that the fire department parking spaces are kept clear and that there is no dangerous overlapping of paths. In addition, all floors are connected via the staircase with elevator.
Under one roof
The changing rooms with access to the vehicle hall are located on the first floor. After an operation, the way to the changing rooms leads through the black/white separation to the wet areas. The rooms for the commander, meeting and kitchen are arranged on the 1st floor. The club rooms are located on the 2nd floor. The foyer and hall for parties and concerts are located here. A balcony in front creates a link to the outside and serves as a second escape route. The floor plan is complemented by smaller halls that can be connected via a mobile partition wall. The kitchen is centrally located and can serve all rooms. The folding of the roof creates high-quality rooms that meet the requirements for acoustics and sound in the best possible way. The youth club is located in the basement of the building and is accessed via a spacious courtyard with an external staircase. This gives the young people their own area with access to the garden with chill and barbecue corners. The youth room is generously lit via the atrium.
During realization, great importance is attached to maximum climate protection. This is characterized on the one hand by the compact construction form, on the other hand by the proposed materials. The ground and 1st floor will be built with recycled bricks. The upper floor will be built using a CO2-friendly timber construction method. The roof surfaces are designed for photovoltaics and solar thermal energy. The material concept meets the requirements of the Cradle to Cradle principle. The sustainable exterior wall cladding provides external shading with reduction of unwanted heat gain. The conscious use of natural materials creates a house with charm and soul.
