Function meets form: New construction with application logic and design quality
Our competition entry impresses with its functional clarity, precise spatial structure and a material concept that combines robustness and atmosphere - embedded in a sensible urban design that takes scale and context into account.

Urban integration and orientation
The new fire station building blends naturally into the existing surroundings thanks to its scale and precise alignment. The positioning of the building responds specifically to the road axes "Rhienfeld" and "Auf dem Klink (L424)" as well as to the neighboring residential structures. At the site boundary, the building defines a clear spatial edge to the "Rhienfeld" road, while a square in front on the L424 road supports and zones the movement sequences in the event of an emergency.
Architectural concept
The design of the building follows a functional and spatially clearly structured principle. At the center is the vehicle hall as the heart of the building, surrounded by an angular functional block. This compact ensemble enables clear operational processes, short distances and efficient organization. Towards the street, two-storey rooms create a striking head-end building with a high recognition value.

Distribution of use and spatial structure
The first floor houses the command center, radio room and administration areas along the side wings - with a direct connection to the vehicle hall for maximum operational readiness. Above the radio room is the children's and youth fire department area, supplemented by separate storage areas. The changing rooms and associated sanitary facilities are functionally located in the rear area and, together with the alarm bays, offer a well thought-out, separate development.

Efficient development for use and everyday life
The internal and external development follows a strictly functional concept with clear separation of access and exit routes. While the alarm exit leads directly onto the L424, the alarm entrance is via the "Rhienfeld" road. Emergency services can access the changing rooms directly from the parking spaces at the rear via a separate entrance and then to the vehicle hall - without crossing visitor or administrative routes. A central access core with elevator and staircase ensures a barrier-free vertical connection. An additional gallery staircase serves as a second escape route and quick direct access to the hall.
