In the competition for the construction of the new fire station, the Stuttgart office of Reichl, Sassenscheidt und Partner was awarded the contract. As the runner-up, we took over the part of the construction of the functional building positioned in a charming location on the Marbach more than 20 years ago.

Project data

The fire station stands at the intersection of many path relationships. The topography results in a plane pushed into the slope, which accommodates the vehicle hall. The vehicle hall is generously glazed to the south and north. All load-bearing wall and ceiling components were constructed in cast-in-place concrete. A pitched roof was built over the training area.

The roof structures of the two building elements consist of glue laminates spanned underneath and are designed as a flat roof above the hall. Attached to the right and left of the vehicle hall are equipment lockers, sanitary areas, storage and the operations center. A gallery level at the rear of the vehicle hall connects the training area with storage and building services areas. The exterior appearance is characterized by solid-colored fiber cement panels in combination with metal and glass.

The open spaces are an essential part of the overall complex. Simple, hard-wearing materials such as concrete paving and asphalt were used for the traffic areas. The required four parking spaces are designed with water-permeable lawn stones.
