Feuerbach 3-field sports hall: a modern meeting place for sport and community in a green setting
The design for the sports hall at the Vitadrom creates a harmonious connection between the existing buildings and the surrounding open spaces. Flexible usage options, sustainable materials and an appealing exterior design provide an attractive and functional infrastructure for sport and leisure.
Project data
Urban planning
The Vitadrom site is extended to the west by the 3-field sports hall and blends harmoniously into the existing ensemble. The building positions itself independently and creates a clear address as well as an attractive public space. It forms a zone of tension along the edges of the space and connects the Vitadrom with the surrounding open spaces.
Draft
The sports hall can be used flexibly, with a central foyer that serves as an access area. The first floor is barrier-free and contains visitor areas and a gymnastics room. The basement includes changing rooms, technical rooms and direct access to the sports fields. Large skylights provide light and ventilation, while the equipment storage areas are located to the west.

Materiality, sustainability, energy concept
The building is made of wood from the first floor upwards and uses sustainable materials. The roof is greened and equipped with a PV system. A brine heat pump ensures a sustainable heat supply for the building, with the option of co-supplying the neighboring buildings.

Outdoor facilities
The outdoor facilities connect the buildings and create green, inviting spaces in between. A green gap leads to the sports hall entrance and offers space to linger. Parking spaces are shifted to the west to enlarge the entrance. A meadow path around the building offers space for leisure activities and is accompanied by low-maintenance vegetation.
