Of sharks and basil: student participation in Remchingen
Children in the role of planners
We had the roof garden for our project planned by children!
So to speak. Because we talked to them in detail and collected ideas. For colors, materials, plants, play options, shade and everything else that should be in the planned roof garden on the canteen building.
The children were able to give free rein to their creativity at a total of six stations, which we set up in a local gym together with representatives of the Remchingen municipality. It was amazing how eagerly and imaginatively they explained their ideas. They could obviously feel it:
We are seen and heard. This building is being built for us.
We build for the people
As a municipal building owner, the municipality of Remchingen takes its task seriously and wants to create a good environment for its youngest generation.
The participation of children and young people [...] has become standard practice in Remchingen thanks to the award of the child-friendly municipality seal.

The participation of children and young people is also absolutely vital to us. After all, they are the future users of the campus. We are intensively involved with the users of our buildings - even if they are children. Or: especially intensively when they are children. After all, children are the future of our society.
And we build for society.
We will probably not be able to implement an aquarium with small sharks (which was one of the suggestions). But we have already incorporated many of the ideas into the design planning. A little teaser: yes, there will be basil.
