An inspiring interview in the Raumgalerie Stuttgart

On July 19, 2024, the Federal Foundation of Baukultur visited Stuttgart on its summer tour. A special interview took place in the Raumgalerie, where Christian Gaus, Managing Director of Gaus Architekten, took the microphone to interview Reiner Nagel, Chairman of the Foundation, on exciting questions about building culture and infrastructure. The occasion: the exhibition "EINEINSZWEI - Feuerwehrarchitektur", which was curated by Christian Gaus, Saskia Gaus and Thomas Geuder.

‍Thesummer trip brings the current Baukultur Report - this year focusing on "Infrastructures" - directly to the people. It is about more than just providing information: the trip serves as an opportunity to exchange ideas on site in order to understand regional challenges and provide impetus for forward-looking solutions.

Fire stations as centerpieces of building culture

‍Thediscussion offered fascinating insights into the design of fire stations. Christian Gaus asked questions that shed light on the role of these buildings as more than just functional infrastructures. Reiner Nagel and the exhibition organizers agreed: fire stations should not only offer protection and safety, but also be social places that create identity. Architecture can combine protection, home and beauty here - a message that gets to the heart of the Baukultur summer tour.
