German Design Award goes to HIVE

German Design Award 2026 for the "HIVE" campus of the future
The future campus "HIVE" on the former Böhringer site in Goeppingen been awarded the German Design Award 2026 in the category "Excellent Architecture – Architecture – Public. " The project was designed by Gaus Architekten.
The AI Campus ("Hub for Innovation, Vision and Execution") combines development, application, and production in a holistic architectural concept. At its heart is the "house-in-house" principle: 22 refurbished shipping containers form a modular spatial structure for workshops, laboratories, and prototyping on two levels in an industrial hall. A central marketplace with a cafeteria promotes exchange and collaboration.
The jury particularly praised the successful transformation of a former industrial site into an open space for innovation. The industrial aesthetics, flexible spatial structure, and clear architectural approach combine the past and future to create a vibrant place of change.
The AI Campus is supported by a strong network of industry, science, and the public sector. The Stuttgart Region Association is funding the project with a total of €1.05 million.
