Schiller-Realschule in Goeppingen. refurbishment in historic preservation with tact.
The listed school building on the edge of Göppingen's city center required refurbishment with special sensitivity and an eye for detail, because this building is of city-forming importance.
Project dataThe plaster and natural stone facade of the listed building played a special role in the elaborate refurbishment. The renovation of the outer shell included the complete roof renovation with new thermal insulation, the repair of natural stone work, artificial stone renovation, window replacement, plumbing work and fire protection renovations.
In addition, it was necessary to rebuild the gymnasium ceiling - a suspended flat ceiling from the 1950s. For this purpose, the historic shape of a barrel was resumed. By creating a mandatory escape route, it was possible to create a spacious function room that the school had previously lacked.
A simple functional building from the 1950s was thus upgraded in terms of design. At the same time, the character of the main building was respected, and all components fit together as a unit. Both the concerns of historic preservation and the applicable requirements for fire protection and technology have been successfully combined.
