Kindergarten ""Im Töbele"" in Rechberghausen. Restraint determines the design.
The one-story solid building is embedded in its setting, a cultural landscape on the outskirts of the village. The exterior and the interior merge. The interior design and choice of materials were deliberately restrained. A daycare center with a high quality of stay inspires children, caregivers and parents.
The building envelope and load-bearing interior walls are designed as a solid structure with an exposed concrete look. Wood and glass complete the clearly recognizable definition of the materials and form a fitting contrast to the green surrounding landscape, into which the view is opened up through floor-to-ceiling, generous glass surfaces. An atrium-like inner courtyard as a protected space additionally supplies interior areas with natural daylight.
Warm and discreet
The use of gaudy or colorful color combinations or exposed surfaces was avoided. However, the discreet but deliberate use of the colors yellow, blue and green in the sanitary rooms, the curtains and pendant lights creates a clear division of the group areas. The group colors serve orientation and identification.
The kindergarten fits so naturally into its surroundings that once seen, nothing else is imaginable. When the builder and planner dare to do something like they did here, new exemplary paths are taken that can positively shape the children for life.

All rooms are located barrier-free on one level. The central entrance area, which can also be used for events, leads to the kitchen and cafeteria area, group rooms, administration and sanitary areas.
Heating and cooling are provided by gas condensing boiler technology in combination with a combined heat and power unit. Temperature control and ventilation are provided by low-temperature underfloor heating and controlled ventilation. The incidence of light from the south or southwest is limited and regulated by a cantilevered flat roof and interior and exterior curtain blinds. With a low-tech approach, all requirements were met.
