Community school Lonetal in Amstetten. Strengthening the location with a sustainable concept.
The Lone Valley School in Amstetten was strengthened with a new concept and a supplementary extension for all-day operation. During implementation, the existing building and the extension were harmoniously combined.
Project dataThe basis for the planning was initially a pedagogical concept developed by the school management. In a second step, the final space program was developed in close consultation with the local council and administration. The result was an open and modular architectural concept that allows for further structural redesigns and expansions as needed.
The open architecture in the extension creates visual references to the green surroundings. The interior color scheme is kept simple, with color accents forming labels that simultaneously enable clear orientation. Colorful seating cushions and furniture provide freshness and have an inviting effect.
Inspiring learning landscapes
All structural changes and modernization measures in the existing building are aimed at creating open learning environments, especially for interactive work in small groups. In the natural sciences, for example, the previous frontal presentation is being replaced: knowledge is imparted in a practical manner at laboratory tables, each equipped for a maximum of four students.
Floor plan redefinition
In the existing building, the areas and accessibility of the auditorium, teaching kitchen and cafeteria were also revised. The optimization of areas, layouts and furniture has also been consistently implemented in the rooms for administration and school management, including the teachers' room and library. Newly designed recreation areas enhance these areas and improve the overall quality of use.
