Construction site management: When theory takes hold in practice.
Clear explanations from the site manager
The construction site tour of the new headquarters of a hidden champion in Albershausen ended with a hearty applause from the audience. Nearly 30 interested AiP-ler and AiP-lerinnen have visited the event, which was organized by the architect chamber group Goeppingen .
The guided tour through offices, production laboratories and high-bay warehouse of the company building inspires everyone. Participants praise the "vivid examples and explanations" of site manager Andreas Werner from the office Gaus Architekten. According to one listener, he is a "walking encyclopedia of knowledge.
For example, the dimensions and masses of the warehouse are impressive: 4,000 tons of material - the weight equivalent to that of 2,000 off-road vehicles - were used in this part of the building alone. Among other things, the large quantity of material acts as a temperature storage mass - in conjunction with numerous geothermal boreholes on the company premises, the building can be air-conditioned in a particularly energy-saving way after completion.
Promotion of young talent by the Chamber of Architects
This and many similar events for the architects in internship have been held by the board of the chamber group for many years. Werner Strunk, who plays a leading role in the format, notes that more than 100 junior architects have already taken advantage of the opportunity for further training. Few things are as valuable for learning architects as a visit to a construction site in progress - it shows how theory can be put into practice.
Interested parties from many different towns in Baden-Württemberg traveled to Albershausen for the tour, and some had been on the road for a long time. This is not the only reason why a social get-together in the brewery rounds off the evening. The exchange of experiences and perspectives with colleagues is good for you. And the cool drink, too, of course.
