Grateful for the award received

We are incredibly grateful and honored to announce that our Team from Gaus Architekten and von K GmbH (landscape architecture) have received recognition in the urban design competition for the northern entrance to the city of Offenburg.

The work makes an interesting contribution to the task at hand.

This experience is not only a great success, but also an incredible learning opportunity for us.

Exciting task with an exciting field of participants

An urban planning competition is to find good answers to the question of how the new northern entrance to Offenburg can be designed.

It is July 2023 when we receive the invitation to the competition in Offenburg. The exciting task: a brownfield site of around 26,000 square meters between the main road and the railroad facilities is to be developed - the Grossmann Group is the owner of the site. We were impressed by the field of participants and together with international names such as Hadi Teherani, UNStudio, kadawittfeldarchitektur and offices from Paris and Strasbourg, we visited the site in September.

After two months of conceptualizing, researching, discarding, rebuilding and polishing, we hand over the work. Our concept paints the picture of a future-oriented and innovative city.

Versatile building structure with 60-meter high point

Overall, our concept is divided into four building plots, each consisting of one or two buildings. Towards the main street, the buildings are typologically designed as large-format point blocks, while at the rear they are designed as blocks that shield the neighborhood from the railroad. At the head of the quarter, a high-rise building composed of three bodies shifted against each other is being developed. With a total of 15 storeys, the tower will become a landmark - a symbol of the city of Offenburg.

We will show you the entire concept in our detailed project presentation.

In addition to two equal first prizes, our work is the only other work to receive an award. We are proud of this recognition. It spurs us on to continue.

With good architecture for people.
