MD Magazine: Searching for clues

From storage room to feel-good space
We are very pleased about the current publication in the MD Magazinein which our project on the lakeside promenade is presented - a project close to our hearts that looks back on a long personal history.
When architect Christian Gaus heard about his school friend's plans to restore the historic family-owned building, it was immediately clear that this potential could no longer remain unused. For decades, only the first floor was used as a restaurant, while the upper floors served as a furniture warehouse - accessible only from the outside.
Today, the building is barely recognizable. With a newly created staircase as the backbone, the property has been completely opened up. Inside, exposed concrete and exposed timber constructions combine to create a design full of character that stylishly unites old and new.
The new use - with restaurants on the first floor, seminar rooms on the second floor and apartments on the top floor - will breathe new life into this historic location.
