Fireside chat 2024: Dialogue between architecture and politics in an exclusive setting
On December 12, 2024, the sixth fireside chat of the Netzwerk Architekturexport (NAX) and its partner AIC International took place. Under the motto "Looking back, looking forward...", over 40 participants - NAX sponsors, partners and guests from the world of politics - came together at the China Club Berlin to bring the year 2024 to a close and look ahead to 2025. Christian Gaus was also present and reported on an evening characterized by stimulating discussions and valuable contacts.
Impulses from politics with Dr. Rolf Bösinger
The China Club, known for its stylish ambience and exclusive location, provided the perfect setting for this get-together. Guest of honour Dr. Rolf Bösinger, State Secretary to the Federal Minister of Housing, Urban Development and Construction (SPD), gave a keynote speech on the current challenges facing the construction industry. Topics such as reducing bureaucracy, climate adaptation, social housing construction, affordable housing and housing shortages were the focus. Afterwards, State Secretary Bösinger took time for an in-depth discussion with the architects.
Prospects for the future: demands of the planning professions
Inthe run-up to the Bundestag elections in February 2025, Prof. Ralf Niebergall, Vice President of the Federal Chamber of Architects, emphasized the central role of the Federal Ministry of Construction for the planning and construction sector. He underlined the 13 demands of the planning professions formulated by the Federal Chamber of Architects, the Federal Chamber of Engineers and other associations and appealed to politicians: "Simplify construction!"
Exchange in an exclusive atmosphere
Theharmonious interplay of appealing ambience and in-depth content made the evening a successful end to the year. The China Club, with its elegant design and panoramic view over Berlin, provided an ideal setting for networking and productive discussions, and the fireside chat showed once again how valuable the ongoing dialog between politicians and architects is in order to develop joint solutions for the future. The anticipation for the next meeting and further exchange is great.
