In the PIG city magazine Goeppingen The Rotary Club’s Global Grant project was recently Goeppingen This project provides ten schools in Uganda with clean drinking water. Instead of relying on expensive technologies, cisterns, gutters, and filtration systems are built with local resources, giving children time for education. The project was initiated by Christian Gaus, president of the club, and is supported by Rotary International. Water filter backpacks are also being provided for €1,500, which simply provide clean drinking water.
With this low-tech project, the Rotary Club shows how modern volunteerism works – with heart, mind, and energy.
