Gaus Native Architecture

Always remember who you are building for.

Christian Gaus, Freelance Architect and Owner

Design is undoubtedly a central point when designing buildings. However, the people you are building for are just as essential. They are always at the center of action and construction. The needs and wishes of the users directly influence the functional relationships in a building, tailored to the specific target groups, such as children, senior citizens, people with disabilities or fire departments.

Local communities and ultimately society itself are also target groups whose needs must be incorporated into a design. After all, buildings in an urban context can promote social interaction and social cohesion. Cultural sensitivity must be shown, local traditions and values must be taken into account and respected so that diversity and inclusion can develop. The health and well-being of users follows directly from the construction method, which must be as sustainable and environmentally friendly as possible. Energy efficiency, climate protection and resource conservation are important parameters here. Economic aspects are also important in order to enable cost-conscious construction and long-term value retention and enhancement.

Architects have a great responsibility in all of this. They must avoid negative impacts on the environment and society, take ethical principles and standards into account and promote social responsibility and justice. People are therefore the most important target group in construction.
